General Information about Cyprus visa

There are certain cases when a visa of specific kind is necessary when visiting Cyprus. Even if you visit it for a short stay as a tourist or for business purposes or for employment and residence.

Categories of visas

1) Short stay or travel visas / Multiple entry visas

If your visit to Cyprus is no longer than 3 months and if you are travelling for reasons other than immigration, then you might need a travel visa which enables you to travel the country for a continuous visit or for several visits. However, from the date of first visit, the duration should not exceed three months in total in any half of the year.

If you need to visit Cyprus more often, then it is possible to get a multiple entry visa. This gives you the right for several visits but it is valid only for one year. The total duration of the visits should not exceed two months in any half of a year from the date of the first entry. It might be valid for more than a year but not over than five years for specific categories of person.

2) Long-stay visas

If you are considering staying in Cyprus for more than 3 months, then you should apply for a long-stay visa.

3) Airport visa

There are some cases in which you have to pass through the International Transit Area of Cypriot airports without actually entering the territory of Cyprus. This can happen during a stop-over or transfer between two stages of an international flight. In that case you might need an Airport-transit visa.

4) Transit visas

In case you are travelling from one country to another and you need to pass through the territory of Cyprus, then you might need a transit visa issued for one transit or exceptionally for several transits. The duration of each transit case should not be longer than 5 days. This visa is issued if the entry of the traveler into the territory of the destination country is guaranteed and that the route taken normally requires transit through Cyprus.

5) Group visas

This is a transit visa or a visa limited to a maximum of 30 days, which may be affixed to a group passport except where national legislation provides otherwise- issued to a group of travelers formed to prior to the decision of travel. The group visa is issued, provided that the members of the group enter the territory, stay there and leave it as a group. Groups of 5 to 50 people can have the group visa.
